On 1 July 2026, Envato moved all authors to a flat fee and now keeps close to 60% of every ThemeForest sale. After the buyer and author fees, less than half of what you pay there reaches us, and that no longer covers ongoing support and development. So we have raised our ThemeForest prices and changed what a marketplace license includes.
Support is the main change, and it is a limit rather than a removal. A ThemeForest license carries the support period Envato sold with the item, six months by default, and that window cannot be extended on the marketplace. It covers one support thread per product, and it is answered after our direct customers. A direct license carries twelve months of priority support, and a new window can be bought against the license whenever you need one.
A ThemeForest license also does not include:
- One-click automatic updates (manual install from the Envato package instead)
- Our integration plugins
- New demo designs released after your purchase
The theme itself is unchanged. Every ThemeForest customer still gets the full theme and core plugin, identical to the direct version, and nothing is removed from what you already own. The difference is in the extras: integrations are separate add-ons, and demo designs are installable content we build and share with direct customers.
A ThemeForest license also covers one website. Buy direct and you can choose an agency license for multiple sites, at a lower price than ThemeForest, with priority support, automatic updates, integrations, and new demos included. Already bought on ThemeForest? Upgrade your license from your account in two clicks, no repurchase needed.
